Executive Producer Bertram van Munster gives details\nabout ABC\u2019s new reality game show<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By Lie Shia Ong<\/em> What if you were given $100,000 and told you keep it only\nif you could hide the money for 48 hours? Seems simple enough, right? Not\nexactly. In ABC\u2019s new show \u201cTake the Money and Run,\u201d contestants are given $100,00\nin a suitcase and are given exactly one hour to hide it. After the time is up,\nthey\u2019re taken into custody by police detectives and are interrogated for 48\nhours. The detectives can use cellphone records, any receipts and GPS\ncoordinates to try to figure out where the money is. If the detectives are able\nto find it, it\u2019s theirs. If not, the contestants are $100,000 richer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MSN TV spoke with Executive Producer Bertram van Muster (\u201cThe\nAmazing Race\u201d) about how the idea for the reality game show came about, and\nwhere he\u2019d hide the money if he played the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MSN TV: How would\nyou describe \u201cTake the Money and Run\u201d? It seems like a very interesting\npremise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Bertram van Munster: It\u2019s a reality show that almost\nbecomes like a drama. It is interesting how the show develops into something\nvery original and totally riveting. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s ever been done before.\nEvery show had a completely different outcome, to our great surprise. \u2026 It has\na lot of twists and turns \u2026 and it\u2019s completely fascinating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How did the idea\nof the show come about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Somebody came to me with the concept of the show, and\nboth [producer] Jerry [Bruckheimer] and I loved it. We said, \u2018This is a very\ngood idea,\u2019 and then we developed the show into what it is now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where was the show\nfilmed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It was filmed in San Francisco, Chicago and Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do you have a\nmemorable moment that stands out while you were filming?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There were a lot of memorable moments, and I\u2019m not just\nsaying that. The whole thing is just completely riveting. We\u2019ve shot six shows\nfor ABC, and everyone was just like, \u2018Wow, I can\u2019t believe this is happening!\u2019\nA great reality show comes from great casting \u2026 and I think we are very fortunate\nto have a great cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How tough are the\ninterrogators and detectives on this show?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s more of a mind game. They are tough, but the\ncontestants are tough, too. IT\u2019s really a mind game that\u2019s going on. There\u2019s no\nwaterboarding, if that\u2019s what your question is [laughs].<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you had an hour\nto hid $100,000, where do you think you would place that money?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m going to hide it behind the carport at my ex-wife\u2019s.\nHow do you like that? [Laughs]. I hope [everyone] likes the show.
